At Sydney Animal Hospital, we have an experienced and skilled team of veterinarians and veterinary technicians equipped to handle everything from routine checkups to advanced surgeries. While we are capable of handling the majority of your pet’s medical and surgical needs, we refer our patients to veterinary specialists or specialty clinics for more complex cases. We want your loyal companion to receive the best standard of care and so we refer them to specialists when we think advanced training or equipment would be beneficial for them.

What specialty clinics or hospitals do you refer to often?

We often refer our patients to reputed and trusted organizations such as the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown, PE and CullenWebb Animal Eye Health Specialists in Riverview, NB.

What do veterinary specialists and specialty clinics offer?

Veterinary specialists are often board-certified and have extensive expertise and training in particular areas of veterinary medicine such as oncology, ophthalmology, neurology and more. Specialty clinics and hospitals often have advanced and specialized equipment to perform procedures and surgeries not always available at general veterinary practices.

Can I call and ask for a veterinary referral?

Our veterinarians make referrals only after a physical examination and diagnosis have been made. If they think that your pet needs specialized care that we cannot provide, then they make a referral based on the assessment of your pet’s condition. To know more about our referral services, you can call us at 902-562-5551.
