What are the core vaccines for cats?

Veterinarians recommend that core vaccines be administered to all kittens and cats as they protect against diseases that can be fatal. Such core vaccines include feline viral rhinotracheitis, feline calicivirus, feline panleukopenia, feline leukemia virus and rabies.

What are non-core vaccines? Are they compulsory to take?

Non-core vaccines are recommended based on your cat’s lifestyle, environment, surroundings and risk factors. Non-core vaccines include feline infectious peritonitis, Chlamydia, Bordetella, etc. These are administered based on a veterinarian’s assessment.

When should booster doses be taken?

Core vaccines should be readministered once every year or every three years. Our veterinarians can help create a vaccination schedule suitable for your pet. To know more about vaccinations and boosters, give us a call at 902-562-5551 and we will be happy to help you.
