Sydney Animal Hospital has had the honour of serving the community for over 40 years. We first began operations in the old K-Mart Plaza and then in 1989, moved to our present address. Since its opening, the hospital has become a welcoming place for generations of pet owners. This sense of community is what drives us. We treat all our clients like family when they walk through our doors.
The hospital has slowly taken shape to become the place it is today. In 1993, Dr. Ruth Parker’s Ross Ainslie Group bought it from its original management. In 1996, she designed and built the hospital you see standing today. In 1998, the hospital became the site of the only pet crematorium on Cape Breton Island.
We understand the importance of pets in our families and community. This is why we strive to provide the highest quality medicine and surgical care. With the use of the latest technological advancements and equipment, our staff promises to provide compassionate care and attention to each patient we see. In 2006, we were the recipient of the Atlantic Region’s Veterinarian Team Appreciation Award presented by Bayer Health Care and Pets Magazine.
We have many firsts to our name including being the first practice in Cape Breton to computerize our patient files and have complete in-house diagnostic equipment. We are proud of providing the first direct digital radiology service in all of Atlantic Canada. Locally, we are the only provider of cold laser physiotherapy and laser surgery.
Our team continues to broaden our skills and expertise to serve pet parents and their loyal companions. We strive for excellence and serve with purpose. At Sydney Animal Hospital, you will always find a welcoming place for your pets and other members of your family.
